The Radio-Television Department was established in 2013 and began accepting students in 2017 in an effort to achieve applied journalism in Afghanistan and to integrate theory with practice, operating towards the specialization of the applied journalism field. The Radio-Television Department, having specialized and experienced professors in the media field, as well as equipped television and radio studios, actively produces and broadcasts radio and television programs through the Facebook pages and blog of the Faculty of Journalism and Rana University's YouTube channel. The students of this department are the producers, presenters, and editors of these programs.
To achieve applied journalism, this department seeks to use modern information technology to facilitate the integration of science and art, the two main axes of media work, and to introduce journalists to the media job market who, with creativity and innovation in media work, pave the way for specialized and investigative journalism and become symbols of media and journalism.
In order to achieve the development of journalism and modern news reporting in Afghanistan, the Radio-Television Department is committed to training students in the fields of announcing, report writing, directing, and documentary filmmaking for visual media, for governmental and non-governmental organizations, using modern guidelines, and presenting them to society.
